Visit Wat Pha Lat, small trekking thru forest to the temple. Then visit famous Doi Suthep Temple, the Buddhist temple draped in gold. Enjoy the panoramic view from top of the mountain over the city

1. Wat Pha Lat
Take a songthaew to the starting point of the Monk’s Trail, then begin a scenic walk through the lush forest on the slopes of Doi Suthep. Follow this historic trail, once used by Buddhist monks traveling between the city and the temples, to Wat Pha Lat, a peaceful jungle temple surrounded by nature.
Explore the temple grounds and admire the old stone structures, Buddha statues, intricate carvings, and moss-covered stairways. Take a moment to relax by the small stream and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings before continuing to the next stop of the tour.
2. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of the most sacred Buddhist temples and pilgrimage sites in Thailand. The temple can be reached via the famous “Dragon Staircase,” which features more than 300 steps flanked by Naga serpent sculptures. Alternatively, you can take the cable car to the temple (at an additional cost).
Once at the temple grounds, explore the beautiful complex and admire its statues, pagodas, shrines, bells, and Buddhist murals. Visit the temple’s sacred golden chedi and learn about its history, as well as the stories depicted in the murals illustrating the life of the Buddha.
Located 1,053 meters above sea level, the temple offers spectacular views over Chiang Mai and the Ping Valley. On a clear day, take in the breathtaking scenery before returning to your hotel.

Delightful Afternoon!
My afternoon tour with Amy from Wander Siam was simply wonderful. The hike up the monk’s trail was much more meaningful with her amazing commentary on the plants and animals, than had I done the hike on my own. I really appreciated her knowledge and insight on Doi Suthep and Wat Pha Lat – she did an excellent job of pacing our visit – giving me time to both wander the grounds on my own and walk the sites together to learn more about Buddhism and the history behind these locations. A super afternoon!

Fantastic Experience
My guide Saman was excellent, he had great energy and taught me a lot. I brought loose longer linen pants to put over my shorts for the temple part- a recommendation would be to wear Joggers only or shorter pants, as mine ended up dragging in the rain a bit. The hike was slippery but if you take your time, not dangerous and was very enjoyable. Overall, I would definitely recommend this for anyone in Chiang Mai looking to visit Doi Suthep and Wat Pha Lat and get a little exercise along the way!

Beautiful tour
Walk up the monks trail was really lovely. Wat Pha Lat is in a beautiful tucked away setting. We were lucky it didn’t rain and Doi Surhep was stunning and so peaceful.
Amy was our guide and very helpful- explained things well and gave us plenty of time.
