3 Hidden Temples You'll Visit
Built in 1455, the great seven-spired stupa is modelled on Bodh Gaya in India, where the Buddha attained enlightenment. Notice the stucco devas around the base — each face is different, believed to be portraits of the royal court.
Founded in 1371 in King Kue Na's flower garden. Legend says a sacred relic here split in two by a white elephant up to Doi Suthep. The white stupas hold the ashes of Chiang Mai's royal family.
Built around 1296. The tunnels let monks meditate in cool silence — you can still see traces of 700-year-old murals on the ceiling. Behind, broken Buddha images rest among the trees: a deliberate reminder of impermanence.
