A heartwarming day with Thailand’s gentle giants and the breathtaking scenery and powerful history of the River Kwai.
Leave the busy streets of Bangkok behind and discover the peaceful countryside of Kanchanaburi on this private full-day tour filled with nature, culture and history. Travel in comfort with your own vehicle and guide, enjoying the flexibility to explore at your own pace.
Your day begins at ElephantsWorld, a sanctuary that provides a safe haven for old, sick and rescued elephants. Established to give back to these animals after a lifetime of hard work, ElephantsWorld allows visitors to participate in their daily care in an ethical and respectful way. You’ll prepare food, feed the elephants, watch them play in the mud and even help bathe them in the river. Spending time up close with these gentle creatures and seeing how well they are cared for is an unforgettable and moving experience.
In the afternoon, continue to Kanchanaburi’s historic landmarks, starting with the world-famous Bridge over the River Kwai, part of the Thai-Burma Railway built during World War II. Learn about its remarkable history and the resilience of those who built it before enjoying a private boat trip along the River Kwai. Glide past scenic riverbanks and small local communities as your guide shares stories about the region’s past and present. The day ends with a visit to the Chong Kai Allied War Cemetery, a peaceful and beautifully kept memorial to the soldiers who lost their lives here.
