Chiang Mai Temples and Market Tuk-Tuk Evening Tour
Chiang Mai

Join our “Tuk-tuk Tour Chiang Mai by Night” and discover the magic of the 'Rose of the North' after sunset, when the city slows down and the temperature becomes pleasantly cool. As the sun sets, Chiang Mai’s ancient temples light up beautifully and the bustling night market comes to life with delicious aromas and vibrant energy.
Your local guide will share fascinating stories about the city and the landmarks you pass along the way.
Our adventure begins at 18:30 hrs in front of Burger King at the Thapae Gate, where the tuk-tuks will be ready and waiting. Let’s hit the road!
We start at Wat Phra Singh, one of Chiang Mai’s most iconic and revered temples. Dating back to the 14th century, this temple is a prime example of traditional Lanna architecture and a symbol of the city’s rich heritage.
Next, we visit Wat Phan Tao, known for its stunning teakwood ordination hall. This peaceful temple, one of the oldest in the city, offers a serene atmosphere and a glimpse into classic Lanna craftsmanship.
We then make a stop at the impressive ruins of Wat Chedi Luang, once the tallest structure in Chiang Mai. Though partially collapsed after a 16th-century earthquake, the chedi remains awe-inspiring. This site once housed the sacred Emerald Buddha, now kept in Bangkok’s Wat Phra Kaew.
Outside the old city walls, we visit Wat Lok Molee, another historic temple with a beautiful brick chedi that holds the ashes of several kings from the Mengrai dynasty, rulers of the Lanna Kingdom.
To wrap up the evening, we head to the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, the city’s most famous market and a true feast for the senses. Browse stalls filled with handicrafts, clothing, and souvenirs, and enjoy a casual meal and local dessert surrounded by the buzz of night-time market life.
After dinner, we say goodbye to the guide. You’re free to return to your hotel by tuk-tuk (not included) or continue exploring the Night Bazaar at your own pace.

Great experience. Highly recommended.
We truly enjoyed the TukTuk ride in downtown of Chiang Mai.
Mr. Smarn was very articulate at explaining the history of all the places and artifacts that we visited. When asked with the questions that he didn’t really know the answers, he would take time doing the research and then came back with the answers for us. The temple tour at night was very breezy and helping us avoid the heat and sunburn we got to take time enjoying the beauty of the architectures and great lighting effects without too much crowd.
At the end of the tour, Mr. Smarn took us to the nice food court, recommended us some good food choices, and allowed us to pick 3 types of foods as part of the tour package with no extra charge. At first, we thought we were going to eat more than 3 types of food, but by the time we were done with the 3rd dish we were so full and very satisfied. Highly recommending this tour.

Efficient Way to See Chiang Mai
Nancy was great! She answered all of my questions about the temples, Buddhism, and Thailand. She took a lot of pictures for me and showed me around the market and provided tips as to what would be best for dinner. If you only have a few days in Chiang Mai, I would recommend this as it’s an efficient way to see a lot in not much time.

Good overview of the city.
Good presentation about Buddhism and temples in Chiang Mai.
Also, you would have a quick presentation about history of the city and good chance to ask more questions about Buddhism or temples.

A great guide makes all the difference!
The guide (Tik) was so amazing. He was well informed on the history of the Temples but shared so much more about the Buddhist practices, how they entertained with Hindu:s in the region. He was fun and funny. Seeing the temples at night was very special. Highly recommend this tour.
